Lost in Translation
Caught Lost in Translation over the weekend. We didn’t intend to watch it, I wanted to watch something funny, like Stuck on You or something. But that was showing too late for us. KF wanted to get Lost in Translation straight on DVD, but we buckled and watched it.
I enjoyed the movie. It was different in that there wasn’t a physical journey the characters take to find themselves. It was purely situational. And I guess it was a lot more natural. No poetic scripts, no breathtaking cinematography. Just a week as the characters lived through it. Fascinating.
My favourite scene was the last one, when they say goodbye. Not overdone, no tugging at your sleeves and stuff. I like it when art imitates life.
If you want to be entertained, you should catch something else. If you’re just kaypoh and want to see what two lonely people in a weird place can get up to, this is it.
