Hang on, ahh….

KT hung up on us!
So in our bid to test the forefront of internet technology, we made our visiting-bangalore-for-the-week buddy KT try Skype, a PC-to-PC voice product. The application looks a little like the messenger products we’re used to, you add contacts and find your friends. But when you want to communicate, instead of sending an IM, you’ll actually be calling them. Hit the button and your friend will hear a phone ringing. If you’ve got your mics set up right, you’re good to go. The quality is pretty good, pretty lag-free, and clear. And it’s totally free. Just hang up when you’re done.
So that’s what KT did – he hung up on us (there is a click and all). Just when he was figuring out what was wrong with his mic, and I suggested we could sing on our end in the meantime. They say timing is everything in comedy.
How was your Valentine’s Day?
So hope Valentine’s Day worked out the way you wanted it to. The highlight of my day was having dinner with the family at (of all places) Han’s near Springleaf estate. Not the food quality I remembered, though the grilled fish was pretty good. Couldn’t say the same for the pork chop nor the beef steak.
Jello Fello
The only thing I did that was out of the ordinary was to make agar-agar. I used to love it as a kid, I’d bug my mom or my grandma to make it all the time. I love how it was crunchy and sweet, and kinda like eating water. It was right up there in my list of favourites along with Campbell’s Cream of Chicken soup.
So here I am, 20 years later, trying to figure out how best to do this with nothing but instructions on the outside of the packet. I mean, how wrong can you go with agar?
Well, I guess not too much. It turned out the way it’s supposed to, and tasted kinda like what it used to. Next week, I’m going to try a genmaicha version of agar or maybe konnyaku, since my dad likes that texture better.
Life flashing before your eyes
They say that just before you die, your life flashes before your eyes. I wonder if it’s going to be a series of still photos, or little mpegs, or kinda like both (like in movies). Would you remember to add a soundtrack? Sometimes I wake up and there’s already a song in my head. So yeah, I think the soundtrack is probably thrown in. Or maybe you’ll hear the voices.
I hope it makes me laugh.
