Mr Sun and other Barney Songs

Frocks and Socks
I don’t know why the whole Academy Awards thing is such a big deal, especially since the awards are not purely based on merit. Again, I’m hoping Johnny Depp will win, but he’s mostly out of it, since he doesn’t look like the schmoozey kind. Then again, neither does Sean Penn nor Bill Murray.
Speaking of Bill Murray, his Lost in Translation co-star irked Calvin Klein by refusing to wear his dresses at the Golden Globes.
Yeah, I admit – I do watch these award shows to see what people are wearing. But it all seems good anyway (besides the stuff Bjork wears and Lara Flynn Boyle’s pink ballerina thingey from last year).
Everyone should be like my niece. She insists on wearing the same pair of socks everyday. They’re gray with red cuffs, I got them at Old Navy the last time I was vacationing. It’s been a week and she’s still wearing them, she won’t let her folks wash them, and she won’t wear the other ones which are the same except in a different colour. That’ll save us all a lot of trouble, except for the smell…
Mr Sun, Sun, Mr Golden Sun, please shine down on me…
I know I’m a whiney, complaining, not very patient, nor very dedicated babysitter, but it’s really beginning to annoy me when the songs I hear in my head when I wake up in the morning now also include a nice Barney repetoire. It so doesn’t go with the Kill Bill soundtrack and jazz tunes that so often populate my mornings. I’ll post again if I start doing the dance steps in my sleep.
Daisy Chain Necessities
I wanted to put a stat counter on this blog, and discovered that there’s no easy way to do it without getting a paid account. So I went to check out what else I’d get with a paid account, to find that I would be able to embed this blog into my site. So then I went to check out how much it would cost to get my own domain name for a year (it’s US$8.50 at www.mydomain.com), and then I start thinking I might add the hosting and email accounts…
There’s no “long and short” of this. It just went on. And I got stuck at the best part – deciding on a domain name. It’s a discipline that requires you to think deeply about what you want to achieve with your little bit of space on the Internet.
I pulled the plug on that project for now, it took too much thinking. Right now all I can think about is a bacon sandwich.
