Long day at work
So today was an especially long day, I had a 3 hour meeting and I was ready to go shoot myself afterwards. I think I’ve gotten to the point where I’m just not used to it anymore, even though at my previous job, we had a weekly team meeting that often ran into 6 hours. That was pure hell, and I took it out on everyone at the meeting.
Scrumptuous Dinner
After the long meeting with a visiting colleague, my boss and I brought him to Lei Gardens for dinner. I should probably keep the review for the Food Blog, but even though the food was great, they really need to do something about those Nazi waitresses who kept insisting on us ordering the stuff they recommend. In bad English, no less.
That was slightly better than the staff who got us the table, they tried speaking to my evidently very Caucasian boss in Mandarin.
Mystic River
Was a little bit disappointing. Sure the acting was great – Tim Robbins deserves his Oscar. If I were the Academy, I would’ve given the award ot Bill Murray, Sean Penn wasn’t doing anything except scream and yell. Sure it was moving, but it was rather over the top.
I think the adaptation of the script was a bit too mechanical. I felt that parts were added in just to make stuff up, and some lines were contrived. So in a way I’m glad it didn’t win Best Picture. This is one of those movies where I think would have been better as a book.
