Remember when I mentioned I had a tiff with my domain provider?

Well. I sat on it for so long that my domain has now expired with them.

What this means is you might experience a few disruptions in service (or a big giant one, depending on what I’m thinking/feeling) so if this 404s in a few days, that’s why. If it 404s for more than 3 months, it’s probably cos I’m using another domain.

I’ve not fallen off the planet (yet), I’m just moving. Until then, you can catch me on other channels (email, flickr, facebook) till I find another (semi-)permanent residence.

Qoo Out.

My maternal side of the family is incredibly large. Their contribution to the the family name is so large, it’s one of the most common surnames in the world.

Ok. I exaggerate.

But anyway. I met Cousin K when he flew into town last weekend. I told him about Cousin S. Who’s having a baby. Cousin K went back and told his dad, who met my Cousin S over this weekend, and asked her about it. Meanwhile, I’m talking to Cousin M, hehe, who’s getting filled in on both cousins. So Cousin S is now on IM asking me if I met Cousin K, and when, and how. And Cousin M is finding out snippets of information that will probably get traced back to me because he’s going to yap when he goes back to SG later in May. Information is my weapon, and I wield it flippantly.

This is the bit that’s funny, I guess. The family is so large, and we hardly talk. But when I left the island, I started to get back in touch with my cousins. On IM. On Facebook. On VoIP. It’s strange and surreal.

And it feels all so familial.

Lessons in life: word gets around, and super quickly, where family is concerned. :D

It is believed:

Many hands make light work.

Two (or more) heads are better than one.

Qoo’s findings:

The size of the workforce in a company is inversely proportionate to its efficiency and effectiveness.

Moo! ;-)

I’m trying to create a superduper all-day playlist for a newfangled alarm clock which will probably serve me better as a pair of speakers for my iPod.

Music to pipe through my room all day.

What kind of playlist would it be if it didn’t have Faith No More’s version of Easy?

Incomplete, I suppose.

All these mellow tunes are really massaging my evening into a pensive one. In one moment I’m missing that undeniable accent that pretty much says home to me, and in the next I’m thinking Jerry doesn’t really have the hunger and grit to stage a comeback that’s probably only a quarter of the size of the one Steve Jobs had to pull off.

It’ll be another 20 weeks to Neil Gaiman‘s The Graveyard Book, so I guess that’s something to look forward to. I want to watch The Dark Knight.

I’m convinced that leaders personify their companies. It explains why Microsoft is an awkward geeky corporation, with not-so-subtle intentions to rule the world. It also explains why Apple is focused, wiley, exacting and fakely-modest in its minimalism.

There’s that dream I had last night, where I was interviewing for a job (again) with Ross (again!) at Wisma Alsagoff (again!!). The new-job feeling stayed with me all day.

I’m going to start taking photos of my new shoes. What’s a spanky new pair of shoes without a photo?

Incomplete.

The days are getting longer, and thankfully it’s a little warmer this week. Happy Mother’s Day to all moms (in advance). You guys will always be a lot more courageous and long-suffering than I can imagine myself to be, so take some time out to enjoy the Hallmark holiday, kitchzy as it might be.

Went to Bistro Aix with my cousin for dinner. Probably should’ve stuck with a traditional steakhouse, but I thought this would be less stuffy and cooler. It was certainly less stuffy. But I probably would’ve enjoyed the steak better elsewhere. Perhaps next time I’ll bring him to Bobo’s. If he flies back into town.

The world gets smaller

When I can call my mom to wish her Happy Birthday, and I hear her mahjong tiles crashing and my aunts laughing in the background.

When mom tells me she received the parcel I sent – it took about a week – and she fancies that the “Made in the U.S.A” creams are much better than the local versions.

When I still see my dad, and it’s day where he is, and my dad sees me, and it’s night where I am, and he proceeds to yap like he does when we were still at home.

When my brother sends videos of his monkeys from the last gathering.

When my cousins send pictures of my nieces and nephews from the last gathering.

When I’m arranging to meet a cousin (I’ve not spoken to in more than ten years) via a web 2.0 thing at a place and time we never even dreamed off when we were still playing tag.

When I’m writing for an audience 20,000 miles away.

It’s a small world wide web after all. And I loves its!
