Courtesy is for you and me.
It makes for gracious living and har-mon-eee.
I forgot the rest of the lines. Anyway. Been thinking about that song because I’ve been driving a little more lately. My bad driving notwithstanding, most drivers here are pretty considerate and nice. Most being the operative word. My constant swearing notwithstanding, I am certainly enjoying my newfound freedom and mobility.
Today was a little hectic though. I drove KF to the Caltrain station as usual. When I got home the phone was ringing, so I ran to pick it up. Turns out KF’s train hit an 18-wheeler just before the next stop, and he needed a ride to work. So I headed back out.
He said he’d wait for me at the corner of Rollins Road and Broadway in Burlingame, a short walk away from the train station. He said, “Look out for the police cars and emergency vehicles”. I got stuck on the freeway, so I exited an exit early and took Rollins Road an exit earlier, which was a good idea anyway, because of where KF was waiting. I knew I was getting close when I saw 3 helicopters circling the area.
Anyway, I picked KF up, got back onto the freeway and headed to his office. He said he didn’t even know the train hit something, some of the lights went out, the train stopped, and he heard from other commuters that a truck was hit. They made an announcement that the train was stuck, and commuters had to find their own way to their destination. That’s pretty sucky, considering they pay between $4-8 for a one-way ride.
Anyway, dropped KF off at 9am on the dot, which was good. We did however, originally leave the house at about 6.45am, so I’d been driving to and fro for more than 2 hours. It’s a good thing I found a few CDs in the house and enlarged my repetoire in the car, it made the ride a lot faster than it could’ve been.
On the way back I decided to go grocery shopping, I might as well, since I was out and about anyway, and I needed some food. I managed to find my way to the Chinese supermarket for some produce.
I got home at about 10.45am.
The good news is I think I’ve what I need to make fried soybean sprouts! I love that stuff.
