anytime is a good time for pie

We had dinner at Park Chow last night. Dinner was good, I had the beef short ribs (you can’t expect anything tall from me!) and the chocolate cream pie.
I was hoping for Key Lime pie, there is something about the tart lemon-curdy cream filling on a buttery digestive biscuit that piqued my appetite, but they were offering Chocolate cream pie as pie of the day, so I couldn’t pass on it. Besides, they don’t have Key Lime pie. Darn.
The chocolate cream pie was quite pleasant, however, the crust was a little disappointing. It was like it sat on the shelf for a few days too many. So today, with a little digging, I made a chocolate cream pie of my own. So far, the chocolate cream is superior to the one at Park Chow, but I settled for a ready made pie shell that I just had to bake. I wasn’t about to mulch dough today.
Now, to cut my pie and try it
Maybe next week I’ll try some shortbread. It looks easier.
